(Not to be confused with Buddha’s teachings)
There are those who learn to very high degrees for prestige and respect, and there are those people who learn to get information and knowledge. There are those who chooses a career to be at everyone’s looking eyes, and there are those who chooses a career to… serve and complete society. There are those who view hierarchy to see whom is nobler than whom, and there are those who view hierarchy as people separated by functions, but not statuses.
All of these examples are concerned with the true nature of things. People view things in very different ways, but the only right way to view something is to see why that ‘something’ exists in the first place. By understanding the true nature of things, one would not act or understand things inappropriately.
For instance, let’s see why academic institutions were established at first. To do so, we need to imagine ourselves at times where human advancement is still low. We now have a permanent settlement, we have farms, hunters, soldiers, and we are beginning to have scientists who can help in building better houses, crops, etc. Now, ask yourself, what can we do to ensure that what we know now (farming, hunting, military, science) will be passed on to the next generation to ensure civilization lasts? Yes,- schools.
And now (modern-day) we have much higher education institutions like universities and colleges. These are results of the branching expansion of knowledge that needs to be taught to the next generation. That’s why now we have various education degrees like degree, diploma and Ph.D to see whom is fitted in which field and in which level. These titles are for qualification, not respect! It would be foolish for someone to get a Ph.D just to be respected by people. The right reason to get a Ph.D is so that he/she can serve society at a different (not necessarily higher) level in the same field.
It is also very stupid for people to learn medicine when we have too much people learning medicine! There are more fields that needs to be filled but people are ignoring them- as a result, society cannot be complete. Some people view education as a tool for achieving respect rather than a tool to serve society- Unbelievable!
“One major essence of degeneration is the lack of appreciation for the earlier generations, which causes the absence of communication and continuity between generations”
It is only by understanding the true nature of things we can use something to its rightful purpose. The whole purpose of not understanding the true nature of things is because of degeneration. One major essence of degeneration is the lack of appreciation for the earlier generations, which causes the absence of communication and continuity between generations. Therefore, progress won’t continue, or worse- using progress wrongly while not being aware of it.
Through being aware of the true nature of things only we can hope to achieve a more objective and peace-prone world.
